Beyonce in Givenchy at the 2012 MET Gala

Beyonce in Givenchy at the 2012 MET Gala

The most talked about event this week is, of course, the Costume Institute Gala aka MET Gala! On Monday night, A-list celebrities flocked to the MET to celebrate the annual opening of the museum’s fashion exhibit.

Beyonce made a much talked about grand entrance in Givenchy and was accompanied by The Andre Leon Talley. Although my FB and Twitter feeds were buzzing about how fabulous she looked, I had some mixed feelings about The Dress. I Givenchy, I love the details, I love the flowing train. I’m not so in love with all that sheerness and booty action. I don’t know…on Beyonce, this dress appeared to be a cross between Vegas show girl and elegant couture.

So, here are two reasons why Beyonce doesn’t get my vote for best dress – too sheer below the waist and Karolina Kurkova  in Rachel Zoe…the pic speaks for itself.

I Heart Pickles Maternity Tank from 2Chix.com - $38

I Heart Pickles Maternity Tank from 2Chix.com - $38

So glad to be back just in time for summer fashion and festivities! I started summer shopping early this year but had to return everything after finding out I was ‘knocked up’…again.

I feel like quite the over-achiever in the family department! Five years ago, I was sitting in a new business presentation with my mind wandering about the possibilities of never having children. Now, my second bundle of joy will arrive months before my 35th birthday. So, this summer expect my fashion favorites to include anything that’s stylish, comfy and will show off my bump.

Here are some hot maternity pieces that I’ve purchased and some that are on my shopping list!

So we took a hiatus, had some technical issues and lost some of our best archived posts in the past months. It seemed like things had fallen apart so quickly; in my ‘bloglife’ as well as real life. I mourned my losses for a hot minute, but the survivalist and dreamer inside quickly pushed me to keep moving and embrace the opportunity and the lesson through all of this:

#1. Create a better data backup system

#2. “Never allow the grief of letting go of the old overshadow the joy of your future in the new!” ~ Toure Roberts

Now let’s move forward into the new and exciting…on May 1st, we’re back with hot summer fashion, celebrity style, noteworthy reviews, fabulous giveaways and more!

Talk soon.

(P.S. Expect to see a few reposts of our favorites)

I think Billy Crystal was right when he said “men and women can’t be friends,” because sex always get in the way. How true! Whether you’re having it, not having it or thinking about having it– the elephant is always in the room. How can you not–when you find this person–not only physically but mentally attractive?

How can someone let that part of the friendship go and move on to the next non-sexual aspect. Like Trey Songz says “We can’t be friends” and let’s all be honest, if the sex is good, then you can’t stop thinking about it, you don’t want to share it and you become addicted like crack head shaking in the corner for their next fix.

Is there something to be said about friendship with the opposite sex? Do you believe that men/women can be friends? Why?

ITALIAN FARE AND PERFECT DATE SPOT RIGHT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

porestaurant

Po - West Village

Date nights are a treat now that my husband and I are parents. When we do get out, I prefer good food at a low-key, intimate setting and he just prefers anything Italian. Our night couldn’t have been more perfect when we found all of the above at Po in the West Village.

Fresh mint gelato with chocolate sauce...yum!

The Italian American restaurant is nestled on a quiet neighborhood block. The friendly staff is as laid back as the reggae music playing over the speakers yet, they’re equally attentive to everyone and everything. Fredi, who oversees the modest dining room, seems unmoved by the crowd coming and going (we later find out that it’s best to book a table 2 to 4 weeks in advance).

We start with a crisp bottle of Pino Grigio and white bean bruschetta. The four courses that follow are a nice balance of simple dishes with spices that are not too overwhelming or too bland. His roasted autumn squash salad with melted fontina. My white bean ravioli in a balsamic brown butter sauce. We feed off each others plate and eagerly await the next round.

Camila Alves in Kaufman Franco

Camila Alves in Kaufman Franco

Last night, I sat through the entire four hours of the Oscars (unfortunately). I mean who is the creative mind that thought Anne Hathaway and James Franco would be “award show host” material? He seemed rather awkward next to her and she’s neither funny nor pretty enough to watch for four hours.

But, let’s talk fashion. In short, the wardrobe choices on the red carpet were disappointing. From the parade of lackluster red frocks to Cate Blanchett’s failed attempt to be fashion forward.  Thank goodness Mila Kunis and Camila Alves gave me something to love!

These aren’t my cup of tea and would probably put me well over 6 feet 5 inches, but Beyonce makes these Louboutin Daffodils hot! She was spotted rocking the turquoise version on Valentine’s Day and then wore the embellished Daffodils to the All Star Game last weekend. This look works for two reasons — it is Beyonce and both outfits are simple. The shoes are clearly over the top and the last thing you need is a fussy ensemble.

Of course, you know either pair go for well over $1,000 but if you want to try some sexy platforms, go for this silver  pump by Pour La Victoire. It’s only $254.95 on Endless.comand isn’t as high as the Louboutins.  [CLICK ON MORE TO VIEW]

 stop-dating-married-man-800x800

It’s official. I’m now a married man magnet, which sucks for this single gal trying to find a relationship. There is a sea of men who want to compromise their families to date—my bad—correction– %$#! a single girl. Why is it that in a room filled with men, either the complete arrogant A-hole or the attached XY chromosome will make his way over and take up my space and time, both of which are already limited? Now, I know why I attract the arrogant men. I always did like a little swagger and yes, on more than one occasion, men have been known to say I am a bit arrogant myself. So, I guess it takes one to know one. But, the latter–the married man–that I just don’t get!
