It’s like everyone waited for the grand finale of award season to break out their Sunday best. The 2015 Oscars, held last night in Hollywood, proved to be a memorable night of tear-jerking performances and some of the most gorgeous red carpet looks that I’ve seen all year. For some celebrities, it was their best look eva!
I have a lot of favorites so let’s jump right in:
Jennifer Lopez never disappoints. She went with a very different look last night and nailed it!! Her Elie Saab Couture gown was so girly, so whimsical and so Oscar appropriate. I love the beaded details on the dress and that nude color toned down the drama of the long train and deep cut neckline. The pulled back ponytail, minimal accessories and pink lips brought this look to the level of perfection.
Zoe Saldana, who recently gave birth to twins, was serving up some major postpartum sexiness. Now, I saw some of y’all tweets about Zoe looking so much better with the baby weight, but I love super thin Zoe just as much as I love curvy va-va-voom Zoe. The woman is just beautiful, and this Versace Atelier gown was a flattering silhouette for her post baby body. The statement necklace and and updo with soft curls was pure Hollywood glamour.
For the past few award shows, I couldn’t help but wonder who the hell was dressing Lupita Nyong’o. I just really disliked the dress selections, hair and makeup for the Golden Globes and SAG. Last night, she went back to a formula that made her queen of the red carpet in 2014 — less is more. No gaudy prints, no cornrows. Although her ivory Calvin Klein gown had 6,000 hand sewn pearls, it’s still a classic silhouette that works for her. There’s also some subtle sexiness happening with the open back details. I also love the short look of her hair because it compliments her high cheek bones and striking features.
BEST LOOK EVER
This is the best look that I’ve ever seen on Viola Davis. This Zac Posen ballgown is a very soft, feminine look for her and the berry lipstick is very flattering.
