Morning sickness, raging hormones, a rapidly growing tummy and stretch marks! Every book and website warned about the varying degrees of these pregnancy symptoms, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how deeply I would fall in love with this little lady growing inside of me and how much “work” it would take to maintain some sense of style during these nine months.
As a first time Mommy and recovering control freak, I can easily go into panic mode and find myself researching every step of the way while, possibly, overwhelming my OB with a laundry list if questions in the process. Being on such an emotional roller coaster and dealing with the physical effects of pregnancy is pretty stressful but that’s where looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. I’ve made it a priority to eat healthy, exercise (when I was able to in the beginning) and change my beauty regimen and wardrobe to fit my “new skin” and baby bump.
YES – everyone can have that pregnancy glow (with a little MAC lip gloss and blush), NO – stretch marks are not inevitable and YES – you can rock your favorite designer jeans and trendy seasonal pieces. And, what I know so far is that motherhood is not a tradeoff for style and fabulosity. For me, it’s another ‘must have’ life experience, the best job that I will ever have and the greatest love that I could ever imagine.
With two months until the arrival of Blake Leonie Baxter, get ready for lots of updates from our journey and little things every Chocolate Diva Mommy should know. Here are a few essentials that I’ve gathered over the past seven months.
