I was recently introduced to Quinoa (say: keen-wah), and I must say I am in love!! A quick background on Quinoa — it is usually considered to be a whole grain, however it’s actually a seed. Quinoa is a good source of iron, magnesium, vitamin E, potassium and fiber. It looks like couscous and is as versatile as rice and barley. The rich, nutty flavor also makes it a great breakfast dish!
This Quinoa and Black Bean Salad is ideal for dinner or lunch as it can be served hot or cold. My family is Jamaican so we love spicy dishes, but you can choose to just add a pinch or skip the cayenne pepper altogether.
I think I’m going to get a little Quinoa-obsessed so expect some experimental recipes to follow in the coming weeks. Let me know if you have any Quinoa recipes that you would like to share.

Nothing compliments a barely there summer outfit like a hot pair of sandals. This season’s sandals are the only accessories you’ll need with blinged out designs from Mui Mui, Rene Caovilla, Kate Spade and more.
Whether you decide to splurge on a high-end pair of Gucci or opt for a more moderate priced shoe from Via Spiga, you’re surely make a bold statement in this summer’s fancy footwear.
Not only is Coachella one of the most star-studded music festivals, but it’s also the most fashionable. The event kicked off last weekend with A-listers like Kate Bosworth, Katie Perry and Rihanna rocking everything from Chanel to Coach.
But, leave it to King Bey to silence all the buzz about Rihanna’s big purple fur or Fergie’s fringed Giuseppe Zanotti boots. The most talked-about outfit is Beyonce’s $4,790 floral maxi dress from Saint Laurent. The “Flawless” superstar completed her ensemble with a suede fringed vest, ankle booties, a black fedora and sunglasses. The entire outfit is said to run about $7,000!!
I absolutely love this look and it’s just perfect for the whole Coachella/Woodstock festival vibe. Besides the fact that it might cost, 1 or 2 months salary, here are few things you should know about that dress:
It’s a no-brainer that it takes lots of discipline and motivation to stick to your fitness goals. But, some cool sportswear can also help you to feel your best and perform even better in the gym.

I’m really loving all these delicious Meatless Monday recipes from Tammi, and I hope you are too. I went 18 years without eating red meat but never had a complete vegan meal. So when NUBIAMAG decided to take on this Meatless Monday challenge, it certainly forced me to get more creative in the kitchen.
Because I’m a Jamaican who grew up in the United States, I’m always taking traditional Jamaican dishes or ingredients and combing them with American foods. Naturally, one of my go-to websites for recipes is Jamaicans.com, and I recently found this healthy pizza recipe that will surely be a hit with the kids and hubby.
Maybe it’s my current obsession with Pinterest or my recent move to the South, but lately I’ve been inspired to take on some serious do-it-yourself projects.
Although I’m naturally creative and can do anything from crocheting to painting, I’ve always lacked the patience for DIY stuff. Nowadays, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s are my new favorite stores!
My first project took only 30 minutes, and it brightens my spirit every time I get home. Check out this beautiful spring wreath that I made last week (for under $20 btw) and follow these easy steps to create your own…
Winter had us all locked up inside and tied to our treadmills, but not anymore!! Spring is here, and it’s time to take our running back outdoors. Running on a treadmill is very different from running on the rough and rugged terrain. It’s just more challenging and, in my opinion, a better workout. If you’re new to running or just trying to get back into the habit of running outside, here are a few tips that will help you get into the swing of things.
This is not only a good excuse to go shopping, but you need the right clothes and shoes for running out doors. Research has shown that you should change out your running shoes after approximately 300 to 500 miles from the first wear. Roughly guessing, that would be about six months if you’re running three miles a day or fifteen plus miles a week. Having the right cushion and support in your running shoes is necessary as this protects you from injuries associated with running outdoors.
I’ll be the first to admit that I fell severely behind on my workout routine this winter. Look…consider this a judgement free zone so let’s be real. It was too damn cold (even in the south). I did a couple squats, couple sit ups and had a lot of pop tarts and wine.
Fortunately, we all have time to drop those extra pounds before summer. But, there’s no need to hold off on updating your wardrobe because I’ve found some very flattering spring dresses that won’t cling to all the wrong places. No body con, fitted or tube dresses, please.
Here are 15 fabulous spring/summer dresses you can wear right now (even before losing the winter pounds).
This one-pot, vegetarian paella is not only the perfect dinner idea after a long day (which seems like every Monday btw), but it’s also a hearty main dish option for a meatless Easter brunch. This recipe will have your vegan guests cheering you on and your meat lovers begging for seconds!
