It’s a hard act to follow when it comes to red carpet gowns. The dresses worn by celebrities during awards season are typically custom designed or part of a special collection.
In other words, if you’re looking to snatch Kate Hudson’s cut-out Versace gown be prepared to spend thousands of dollars.
In my quest to stick with my resolution of eating healthy, I discovered this savory Turkey and Bean Chili recipe on CookingLight.com. Using lean ground turkey instead of beef makes this meal lower in fat and cholesterol.
My husband, who loves a good chili but is not a fan of turkey, went back for seconds and thirds. It became an instant household favorite. I love the mild kick from the poblano peppers and the consistency from the cannellini beans.
This recipe also makes a good weekday and weekend meal with only 20 minutes cooking time!
TURKEY & BEAN CHILI
1 cup prechopped red onion
1/3 cup chopped seeded poblano pepper (about 1)
1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
1 1/4 pounds ground turkey
So many of us complain about wanting a better or healthier relationship with our spouse or partner. But, how many of us actually work towards it as we would a fitness, weight loss or even financial goal?
Having a strong and positive relationship takes work, and it won’t happen with a few quick fixes. Personally, that piece of information was a bit daunting at first, as my relationship mantra was always: “If you are good together, then you don’t need to “work” on anything.”
Over the years, I’ve come to accept that a healthy relationship requires consistency. Of course, what makes for a healthy relationship differs from couple to couple. However, there are some key habits that, if put into practice, can help to create and maintain a loving and lasting relationship.
I’ve never watched Jane the Virgin but when I saw Gina Rodriguez on the red carpet, I thought now that’s the dress of a Golden Globe winner!
The 30 year-old actress caught my attention last night with her bubbly personality and a classic black gown from one of my favorite designers — Badgley Mischka.
Let me get straight to the point. Rosamund Pike on the Golden Globes red carpet in that white, cut-out, backless, bra-less Vera Wang gown…awwwkward. The actress from Gone Girl looked amazing for giving birth 5 weeks ago, but that dress was not flattering for her post-baby body. The straps looked like they needed to be pulled up a bit and going backless was not a good idea.
When the stars hit the red carpet at the 2015 Golden Globes, it was clear that neutrals were popular among celebrities this season.
Kate Hudson in Versace and Emily Blunt in Michael Kors are my top picks for best dressed.
Jennifer Lopez wore a Zuhair Murad gown with a dramatic cape and plunging neckline, but it’s not the gown that made a statement. At 45 years old, ‘Jenny from the block’ is killing it with that body.
Chrissy Teigen also stunned in a Zuhair Murad sheer, cut-out gown. The model walked the red carpet with hubby John Legend, who took home a Golden Globe for his original song in Selma.
Shearling boots have been making a reappearance for the past few winters, but I love what designers have done this season. It’s a practical look with a sleek design that’s easy to dress up or down; unlike a pair of classic UGGS.
Jimmy Choo perfected the trend with a glazed leather upper and rubber sole. Although, with a price tag of $1500, it’s more dreamy than practical. I featured it earlier this week in my round-up of the most stylish cold-weather boots, but I was determined to find a pair of look-alike for less. Actually, I found two.
As we ring in the New Year, we resolve to be healthier. Eating a balanced, reduced-fat diet is a major part of achieving that goal. However, with colder days ahead, it will be even more challenging to stay away from those not-so-healthy comfort foods.
Last weekend, my family fell in love with this healthier version of our favorite comfort food– mac & cheese. This yummy recipe, which I discovered on EatingWell.com, uses creamy low-fat cottage cheese, hidden layers of spinach and whole wheat pasta for extra fiber:
Makes: 4 servings
Active Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 55 minutes
With the New Year comes new resolutions. When the calendar resets to Jan 1st, millions of people make a vow for change; from getting out of debt to quitting smoking, getting healthier and being happier. The unfortunate truth is that nearly 30% of people who make resolutions at the start of the year will fall back into their old habits by the second week of January.
Losing weight is one of the most common goals for many people. Studies show that among the many people who do set New Year’s resolutions, about 38% set resolutions related to weight.
With that said, here are a few tips to help you achieve your fitness goals for 2015:
I woke up this morning knowing that today would be epic (in more ways than one). Not only is it our first post since our re-launch and our first post of the New Year, but it’s also my first winter blogging from ATL!
Although there’s little chance of any snow days in this city, you’ll certainly see a fair share of women dressed in trendy winter ensembles. Of course, with an average temperature of 50 degrees, it’s all in the name of fashion.
So whether you’re desperately trying to stay warm or consciously staying on top of the latest trend, I think you’ll appreciate these stylish cold-weather boots.
