There has been an abundance of recent celeb gossip lately, whether it’s Eva Longria and Tony Parker’s divorce (He cheated-gasp!) to Pink being preggers. Why is it that people get so caught up in the life & style of entertainers? In my case, let’s say a curious person, so I want to know even if it doesn’t concern my everyday life. Sometimes you just have to step back and shake your head at the hot celebrity mess.
This mornings hot news–Ochocinco’s cheesy, booty-popping reality show is now forgotten and he’s engaged–after four months, to Basketball Wife Evelyn, you know the one whose claim to fame was being engage to NBA-player Antoine Walker.
Here’s what the future Mrs. Chad Ochocinco tweeted:
Around-the-World Brunch Offerings… Right in Brooklyn
By Miss Jane
Autour du Monde, a Brooklyn restaurant offering international cuisine mixed with American fare, provides a brunch experience that is definitely worth becoming a favorite.
Conveniently located on Fulton Street in Clinton Hill, this restaurant boasts fresh, organic and diverse foods with influences from around the world (which is what “autour du monde” means in French.)
With its warm colorful walls filled with African art, and neo-soul hits from Jill Scott and Erykah Badu playing in the background, this eatery creates a warm, casual atmosphere, where you can enjoy a menu with traditional breakfast food such as eggs, French toast and crepes, or other standout dishes, such as the Autour du Monde Eggs Benedict. This dish is served on a mini brioche (a light, somewhat flaky bread reminiscent of a croissant), filled with sautéed spinach and topped with a creamy sauce. It’s comes with home fries, which were deliciously seasoned, and a side salad of greens.
I’m usually not a fan of eggs benedict, but Autour du Monde made a lover out of me with their version of it. The bread is light and buttery and the spinach and sauce were a great creamy accompaniment with the eggs.
It’s not too late to get away for the holidays. With Thanksgiving fast-approaching some people will go house-hopping, while others wish they could relax on a quiet beach sipping a fruity, umbrella drink. Have no fear—if you wish to get away, there’s still time to save on budget-friendly holiday travel deals. Here are a few to get you packing!
This Latin American country is an inexpensive option for a 4-day getaway. Vacation packages vary from $400-699 p/p, including airfare and hotel. Some travel websites such as Travelzoo or Sherman Travel may also include tours and breakfast in the deal.
Every once in a while I come across a really good article that I must share among all the ladies out there and today is one of those days. After recent conversations, where I was told “I’m hard and unyielding” or a “man-beater,” I began to think maybe my single-hood is partially my fault. Maybe, I give off an impression of an arrogant, independent, don’t-need-a-man-ever type chick, which by the way is so not true. Instead what they see is a 30-something women who cannot deal with the bull$#! % and don’t want to “play the game”. Unfortunately, the game needs to be played and I will have to learn how to stroke a man’s ego more and make him feel needed. A guy I dated once said: “It’s a good thing I was here, otherwise how would you have gotten it done.” My response: “What do you mean, either way it has to get done–so I would do it.” Talk about making someone feel needed. I guess one would say I need to filter and not be so totally honest. I will have to work on that one. But for now, this “Ask a Guy” article in Glamour says it all.

I love Fall! It’s my favorite season, especially as the leaves start to change colors. Out come the cute boots, leggings and sweaters. Fall always reminds me that like nature all things must change. Unfortunately, along with the season comes my comfy place in front of the TV vegging out and watching forensic shows or old classics–but not this year. If you’re like me then the cold weather makes me you bit lazy and forget it once the snow hits. This year I planned a sure fire ways to get up and get active:
1. Join some local classes, whether it’s dance, kickboxing or the new instructor at the gym. Get up and work that tush for spring, after all you know it’s coming!
Back in my 20s when clubbing was a weekly activity I would meet people some interesting, some not so much who wanted to exchange numbers and go out. On one particular occasion my ride or die girlfriend met a dude by the name Wilbur.
“O-M-G”, were her first words: “I can’t see myself getting down and dirty with a–Wilbur. I mean can you imagine you’re about to climax and call out that name, isn’t that the name of the pig in Charlotte’s Web.” At the time I roared with laughter, at the thought of her not messing with that fineness because of his name. True to her statement, she never called him.
Living by yourself can be hard but living alone as a single gal can be even harder. Now while there is nothing in the world that can compare to your own space and privacy, it can be challenging to live alone, especially when you hear a funny noise, come home late a night or simply need someone to take out the dreaded garbage. Women should always take extra precautions to prepare themselves when living alone. Don’t mind that married friend who calls you paranoid, here are a few tips for those ladies who knows how it feels to live alone.
1. When setting up your answering machine always state: “We” are unable to come to the phone instead of “I.” This gives the illusion that you live with someone.
Trey Songz may have made this statement famous but we have all experienced the tell-tale noises of our next door neighbors. I’m no different, upon moving into my new apartment, I was introduced to my neighbors Mitch and Oh baby late one evening. Mitch, who I have never met but know intimately, through the apt walls, has stamina for days (bless him) and his live-in lady, well lets just say they seem to have a healthy sex life–all four hours of it.
Am I hating a bit?—Hell yeah! But seriously, my next door neighbors sex noises is not the kind of thing I really want to hear –ever. It makes me wonder what they will hear on my side of the wall, whenever I end my celibacy state. So to Mitch and Oh Baby, can you keep it down, a girl has to wake up early in the morning!
Do you have a similar story about your neighbors? Are you the one making noise? Have a neighbor ever complained to you about the noise? Were you embarrassed or just shrugged it off?
Not sure what to do this Halloween weekend but you know you’re not in the mood to dress as yet another Cleopatra, Snookie from Jerry Shore or your favorite superhero. If you’re feeling like me this year, I’m over the costume hunt to go to yet another Halloween party in the NYC. I will actually like to hang out with friends at a nice lounge, have a few cocktails and maybe go dancing minus the costume drama. Here are a few ideas for this weekend that doesn’t include the generic ghoul and goblins:

BRAIN BLUDGEON / 2010 / 30 min
Sewn together from hundreds of forgotten horror films, BRAIN BLUDGEON is a transcendental fusion of trash exposing the willing to everything curious, bizarre, hilarious and awful about no-budget genre films. Hot penny torture, exploding 3d skulls, brutal “de-fetusing”, raping zombies, and much more collide in this blissfully IQ-withering amalgamation of exploitation hell.
Dating is a hard game and definitely an emotional rollercoaster. Trust me, I know and since I have developed a low tolerance level with each passing year, I’m either dying from a serious drought or have them lined up back-to-back. So although, you may not have made it to exclusive status, it’s still time and energy wasted and the frustration of thinking “where is he already?”. How does a gal get through those dating ups and downs without losing her mind—lets just say like everything else in life it takes time and some of this:
