We all try to eat the best we can, especially with the high rate of obesity in Americans, the increased rate of heart disease and diabetes. So we snack on food that are said to be high in fiber, low in sugar and good for heart health. However, can the foods we think are “safe” actually cause bad-eating habits? Here is a run-down of the top five foods that may not be so good for you.
Is a frozen dessert made from, or containing yogurt or other dairy products. Yogurt is a fermented food, made by adding live bacterial cultures to milk. However, it still contains relatively high levels of fat and may have extremely high amounts of sugar.
So ladies, it seems men like us to make the first move (who would have thought) but as usual there are stipulations. Imagine you walk into a party and see “your type” at the bar talking with friends. You feel an instant attraction and for once you want to make the first move–but how? Of course you don’t want to yell across the room and look desperate but you don’t want to come off easy either. So to all my single ladies, here are a few ways to strike up some flirty convo plus a few one-liners to stay away from.
1. “Can I buy you a drink?”—Men are always making the first move and extending the drink offer. So they are more than happy to have the roles reversed for a change. Try this line, it will work wonders on his ego. However, he might say “No, thanks anyway”, suck it up, you tried and now it’s on to the next one.
About a month ago, a friend put me on to this new workout dvd, that’s guaranteed to give you a leaner, stronger body in 30 days. No I’m serious…Jillian Michaels (JM), personal trainer on the NBC hit show “The Biggest Loser” along with her two side-kicks (Natalie & Anita) push, pant and stretch those muscles to give you serious results. As JM says, “I want you to push through it. You feel that knot in the pit of your stomach, that’s fear leaving the body”. Ummm no Jill–that’s just pain and sore muscles right there.
Now considering I started doing this workout with a guy–who by the way–has less body fat, doesn’t have to deal with monthly cramps, cravings for sugar and chocolate and the awful water retention, I’m not doing half bad. I can see a few cuts coming in, smaller waist and even lost some inches around the ghastly thighs and butt (a woman’s nightmare). Anywho, since most men can shred in an instant (yet another unfair disparity among the sexes), he is definitely a fan and to my disgust shredding away. I would put his picture up for all to see as prove that Jill is no joke—but I don’t think he would like that (smirk)!!
I hate trying to maneuver my way around Times Square and having to duck out the way of two love birds slobbering all over each other. What makes them think people want to see the massive tongue action or butt grabbing in the middle of the street. Celebs like Kanye or Paris Hilton love “all eyes” on them by expressing PDA. Seriously, how much is too much?
Years ago, I was the first to yell “Get a room” at those love birds walking around googly-eyed, kissing, hugging and holding hands. I was never someone who believed in public displays of affection and looked scornfully at those who did. I didn’t hold hands as I walked down the street or lean in for a wet one just because I had the “feeling.” Not that I was against it—I just didn’t see the need in showing it for everyone to see. But that was then and today I am different. I am a hand-holding, affectionate chick—of course that’s only if I’m digging you.
How do you feel about PDA? How much affection, is too much? Are you a kisser in public or only behind close doors? Do you cast a sarcastic eye to those who do?

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again, expecting different results. Well, when it comes to money matters–I think we are all a bit insane. My insanity derives from my daily caffeine intake that accounts to $2.00 p/day, 7 days a week, $56 p/mth, which equates to a ghastly $672 per/yr—that’s Madness! When you add up all the miniscule items we purchase during our daily routine, the average person can save hundreds of dollars per year. For example, I have a friend that cooks almost everyday and brings lunch to work “because it saves me money.” As for me, I have quenched my addiction with a $ 40.00 coffee machine.
Small savings can go a long way in helping to keep more money in your bank account. Here are a few tips on how to stop the insanity and save some dough!
1. Stop swiping that card. Many of us have debit cards, which is a wonderful asset but it can cause strife with your funds. The ease at which we can swipe and go unfortunately makes us spend more and keep less track of the money in our account. Therefore opt to take out certain about of money from the bank.
What’s up with all this talk about sexual addiction and cheating? First it’s celebs like Eric Benet, and David Duchovny, then research studies claiming cheating is genetic, now Dr. Phil. It seems people are buying into this BS–why?
The other day as I was walking through Wal-Mart, chatting adamantly with a friend when we got into a discussion about sexual addiction, the difference between a one-time cheater and a whore. As I passionately voiced my opinion on the matter (as usual), he stated “I think this will end up as one of your posts” and well– yes it has!
This whole crap about sexual addiction is ridiculous and a cop out by men who want to sling their ding-a-ling in everything that walks and women who are in denial and just can’t fathom why he cheated—therefore, he must have an “addiction”. Yes, there is an addiction–it’s called New @$$. It’s almost like walking into a car dealership and you see that brand new shiny, red sports car you know will be expensive to maintain, and increase your premiums but you have to buy it! You can smell the luxurious new leather and the detailed chrome paneling, so you sign on the dotted line and drive off. That is until the newness wears off and you’re stuck with a $500.00 car note and $400.00 insurance—all of a sudden the B!%@# don’t look so good.
Time flies when you’re having fun and with Memorial Weekend only a couple of weeks away, can someone say TRIP!! Many of you may already have plans to fly to Mexico, PR, or some other tropical destination but for those who waited till the last minute–like me– to plan a quick getaway. As for me, I’m always down to go somewhere, so in honor of procrastinators or if you weren’t sure if you wanted to spend the dough, here are a few locales that won’t break the bank but give you a reprieve from the daily grind. Have fun!!

If you are anything like me, the transitions from Winter to Spring wrecks havoc on my closet and wardrobe. My beautifully organized space becomes a deluge of sweaters, skirts, short & long sleeves, shorts and more. I can never quite get a handle on how to easily transition my closet clutter to accommodate the new season.
Unfortunately, statistics show that Americans only wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time—therefore, there are a lot of unworn garments that hide in the back of our closets, worthy of 80’s montage the likes of Carrie Bradshaw. So, ladies, lets be realistic and throw out, donate or sell on Ebay some of the stuff we no longer wear or even remember we have.
Not sure how, here are a few helpful tips from lifestyle designer Dawn Falcone Lifestyles LLC., whose work has been featured in Real Simple, Encore and Woman’s World magazine to get you started on the journey to being closet, clutter free!
1. Clear a space in your home that will serve as your sorting area, separate items by categories: keep, trash, donate, or to-do (refers to those pieces that need to be hemmed or altered or fixed in anyway).
