Looking for a taste of Northern Italy in NYC—Gnocco Restaurant, located in the East Village serves up their special homemade deep fried dough with a selection of Italian cold cuts or tender Octopus with peppercorn With classic Italian flavors and spices, including fresh mushrooms, tomato and basil, the cuisine will delight the palette of anyone who enjoys an Italian fare.
Set apart from the busy East Village streets, this small, rustic restaurant with murals and photos aligning the walls, creates an intimate, casual atmosphere. Sample the various pastas made on- premise from pumpkin to La Pizza Di Gnooco. Executive Chef Gianluca Giovanetti creates a simply delightful menu with menu options ranging from oven roasted monk fish fillet wrapped in a crispy layer of Parma Prosciutto or oven roast herbs rack of lamb.
Gnooco offers a fantastic wine selection of reds and whites. Ask the friendly wait staff for pairing suggestions—they know what they’re talking about! This place gets packed on the weekends, so reservations are highly suggested. A bit on the pricey side but the meal makes up for the many “wanna-be” Italian spots in the city. As the weather gets warmer, make sure you are seated in the back garden, which is great for a date on a beautiful night. Don’t forget to save room for tempting desserts–my favorite, the Italian cheese cake, whipped cream, wild berries.
Enjoy a night out on the town and remember to tell them NUBIA sent you! Mangia!
