There’s no telling what look Solange Knowles will be sporting on any given day, and I used to think that each changing hairstyle was an attempt to live beyond the shadows of big sis Beyonce. But after finding out that this gal is a fellow Cancerian, it all makes sense.
It’s probably a good idea to skip the makeup in this heat, but how many of you would take that advice as you step out into the nightlife this weekend? Listen, being a diva means fabulous under all circumstances!
Using a makeup finishing spray can help to set your makeup in place and make it last longer. During my recent trip to Jamaica, I packed a bottle of Mac’s Fix + and was very surprised by the results. It gave my makeup a natural look that lasted all day, even in the sun.
MAC FIX + ($10)

Try this aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!
FROM NATURAL TO SILKY STRAIGHT

I love Black hair. Only a Black woman can go from a fro, to locks, to curly, to straight and even platinum blonde. The versatility gives us the freedom to try different looks and get an instant makeover with little effort. This is why I get a little disturbed when we make assumptions about each other because of a hairstyle: “she’s a real Black woman because she has natural hair,” she’s trying to fit in because she wears a weave.”

Target celebrated their one year anniversary at the Harlem store with a surprise appearance from Beyonce! Kids from the local Boys and Girls Club thought they were there to learn some dance moves from her choreographer but got an even bigger treat when the songstress popped out on stage.
Ok so it was a cute moment, Beyonce loves the kids and Target has an amazing PR budget but how about that hair or wig?

Hmmmm...I wonder if Jada frequents the tanning salon or is that a tan in can?
Cari just got back from Jamaica and is so in love with her darker hue that she now wants to frequent the tanning salon. I got a good laugh when she first mentioned it, but I have to admit that I spent hours in the sun during my trip to Montego Bay and now I’m a little disappointed that the tan is fading.
No matter how light or dark, I think sun-kissed skin looks good on every woman, Still, I don’t suggest becoming a ‘sun worshiper’ since we all know that cause skin cancer and increases wrinkles! Recent studies even show that tanning lamps and beds give off harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which puts you at a higher risk of getting skin cancer (www.skincancer.org)
So, here are some safe ways to achieve that bronzy glow this summer and even keep it all year round…
BRONZERS

IMAN Cosmetics Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder in Afterglow $16.00 – a lightweight facial bronzer that brushes on to give you a hint of sun

It seems like everyone is not brave enough to go ’Rihanna Red’ this summer, so the hot color in hair is blonde, blonde and blonder. Keri Hilson is sticking to her blonde ambitions (even though I’m not too fond of it). Zoe Kravitz opted for blonde highlights for the NYC premiere of X-Men, Jennifer Lopez went big and blonde in London last week and model Selita Ebanks went for a two-toned look with blonde bangs.
If you’re thinking about going blonde, I say let your stylist try highlights first to see if it’s the right color for you and have fun with it!

#1. Try hot pink shadow to brighten your eyes and give your face a fresh look! If you have a light skin tone, mix it with black or chocolate brown liner and mascara to give your eyes more definition. MAC Swish eyeshadow ($14.50) is highly pigmented with a hint of shimmer to give you a nice glow.
#2. Make your lips pop with Shiseido Shimmering Rouge in Stiletto ($25.00). Pair it with nude, bronze or gold shadows.

Memorial weekend is here so let the summer parties begin! This weekend will mark the beginning of many summer festivities and cocktails. A few Monday, Thursday or even Friday morning hangovers are inevitable so instead of rolling in with sunglasses and hiding at your desk all day, try some of these makeup tips to camouflage those puffiness, redness and droopy eyes…

They say it takes about a year to get ‘back to normal’ after pregnancy. But while the extra pounds and everything else is leaving my body, my battle with acne has, unfortunately, started again. The beautiful clear skin that I had when I was pregnant with Blake began to change around her first birthday, and now I’m back to trying out new products to help fight the breakouts.
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to NEW L’Oreal 360 Anti-Breakout Cleanser and have been using it twice a day for about a week. I’m really impressed that it works exactly as promised! My skin feels super clean and soft after each wash and I now have less breakouts.

In my book, you can never go wrong with a perfume gift set. My fragrance of choice is usually Angel by Thierry Mugler; it’s powerful, fierce and spicy as I dare to be. On other days, I may opt for something soft or romantic. With so many scents to choose from, here are my 3 fave gift sets that will suit almost any mood.
