This is by far one of my all-time favorite reviews. Any time I don’t have to leave Brooklyn for a quality dining experience — one that doesn’t include questionable seating and plastic utensils — is an experience I thoroughly enjoy.
Los Mariachis, a restaurant that serves authentic Mexican cuisine, offers just that kind of exceptional experience. I was blown away by multicolored décor that had me feeling like I was vacationing in beautiful Puebla. Vibrant and exquisitely detailed, the chairs and tables were handmade (and shipped from Mexico). The restaurant’s gem is its mosaic tile artwork, featured prominently in the dining area.
With an extensive 5-page menu, there’s something for everyone, from the vegetarian friend to the picky child. Everything is categorized by the fillings–fresh produce, pork, chicken, beef, lamb, goat, seafood—and the options are quite limitless, from tacos, burritos and stuffed peppers to stews, sandwiches, pizzas, and grilled platters.

If your Thanksgiving dinner party just got way too large for your NYC apartment or you’re just not in the mood to cook or clean up, we’ve got the perfect option for you. Plan your Turkey Day feast at one of our favorite restaurants and tell them NUBIA sent you…

You don’t have to trek into Manhattan for an authentic – and exquisite — French dining experience. Sue Perette is a quaint, cozy restaurant offering traditional cuisine right in the heart of Brooklyn.
With its candlelit atmosphere and window seating, it’s the perfect place for a romantic – but not too stuffy—dinner with a spouse, a laid-back night out with friends, or weekend brunch with the family.
A great starter for dinner is the signature appetizer, polenta fries (served with green aioli sauce), and their signature cocktail, the French 75, (made with gin, Cointreau, lime and sugar and topped with champagne.) The drink had the perfect mix of sweet and sour and will definitely prompt anybody to order more than one.
Other traditional appetizers include duck pate and charcuteries or fromages (cold cuts, charcuteries or cheeses plates.) The restaurant also offers an appetizer of the day. This particular night, it was quail served seasoned and tender with sweet peaches and figs.
Cozy, Romantic Winebar & Restaurant in NYC

It’s not often you visit a winebar and get the full restaurant experience but at Pierre Loti Winebar & Restaurant, that’s exactly what you’ll find. With three popular locations in Midtown, Irving Place and Chelsea, Loti offers customers old world charm, amidst candlelight and warm earth-tone hues–not to mention the rich, decadent dishes that graces the menu.
The winebar features 40 by-the-glass red & white wines from Turkey to Greece and Bulgaria and over 200 bottle selections to choose from.
Charming Italian Restaurant in the Theater District

Amidst the theater district in Times Square, with the bright lights in the big city, you will find Trattoria Dopo Teatro, a quaint Italian restaurant with casual charm and abundant flavor. Although a mouthful to say, your palette will have no complaints after sampling homemade pastas like the Raviolo Aperto ai Frutti Di Mare, filled with a brodetto-like stuffing of spicy seafood in a rich tomato broth or the Mezzelune all Aragosta, half moon shaped ravioli with lobster in a creamy pink sauce.
A Rare Jewel in Harlem
by Nicole M.

Harlem is quickly becoming a go-to spot for great food and leading the way is the 5 and Diamond, a cozy restaurant located at the gateway of the newly coined “Restaurant Row’. It serves classic American comfort food with a Spanish twist courtesy of French Culinary Institute Grad, Chef David Martinez.
The inventive cocktails at the 5 and Diamond are not to be missed. As you browse the list, you may be tempted by the Rhythm & Soul, an intriguing mix of brandy and bourbon, lemon and lime juices, guava and mango nectars. Though it’s laced with strong bourbon, this drink isn’t just “for the guys” – it’s pink and surprisingly sweet, topped with a refreshing dash of Rose Prosecco. The fruity White Sangria is another good choice and is mixed with stomach soothing aloe vera!
Mediterranean Fare for Lamb Lovers
By Miss Jane

For a great Mediterranean meal in midtown where lamb is king, try Pera Mediterranean Brasserie , a cozy eatery that infuses a contemporary atmosphere with historic Turkish dishes. Specializing in grilled meat and seafood, Pera offers succulent lamb dishes, as well as a brunch that shouldn’t be missed.
With its warm, rustic décor and dim lighting, it’s perfect for either a family or large party meal (where you can reserve a full private room if you like) or a date after a movie or show near Times Square.
Start with a cocktail from their full bar, in particular their signature Blood Orange Gimlet, made with Tanqueray Rangpur gin, fresh blood orange puree and lime juice, and the Apricot Margarita, made with Don Julio Blanco tequila, apricot puree, agave nectar, and lime juice. Or, if you simply want a glass of wine with your meal, Pera offers more than 80 selections, including several Greek, Israeli, Lebanese and Turkish wines.

When my daughter started trying to feed herself, I knew it was a good time for her to experience eating out at a restaurant. But finding a child-friendly place that wasn’t some chain restaurant with generic food, poor service and a 2 hour wait, seemed impossible.
Luckily, we were introduced to PSbklyn–a new park slope restaurant with delicious comfort foods, spirits and entertainment for kids and adults. Not just kid-friendly but family-friendly. We decided to try their Brunch a few Saturdays ago and can’t wait to go back with our friends and their kids!

PSbklyn's brunch menu has delicious comfort foods like eggs with sweet potato hash, corn bread and a kid's menu with everything from chicken fingers to apple sauce
West Village Hotspot Caters to Your Inner Foodie

Alma33—one word- DELICIOSO! This Argentinian newbie, located in the West Village shows off its casually-elegant décor, with cream, brown and leather accents and contemporary rustic feel. Alma means “Soul” and that is exactly what you get. This locale is what I like to call “NYC Sexy,” with personal touches from owner Richard and his fiancée Jessica.
What I love most—the empanadas and Brazino! Chef Enrico, has a passionate enthusiasm about his dishes that makes you want to sample every item on the menu. From the Branzino fish to the Rosemary, grilled skirt steak kebob and spinach ricotta and corn and peppers empanadas—you won’t be disappointed.
If you prefer a lighter fare, enjoy the tapas menu at the front of the restaurant, while you watch the futbol game or dine in the back room for the full menu. Alma 33 is open til about 2 a.m. Join them for lunch Monday-Saturday and brunch on Sundays. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday the family went out to celebrate my sis-in-law’s, sister (did you get that?) birthday. After weeks of decision-making over where to dine, my sis-in-law and I discovered this incognito spot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn name Le Barricou, a French country bistro, with a traditional southern style. All I can say is how did they get the pancakes so fluffy and crispy!!

Le Barricou is centered on the south side of Williamsburg away from the packed northern area with its abundant shops and restaurants. Upon first sight, this rustic location lacks luster but its super laid-back appeal and mouth-watering aromas will have you tempted. After dining here, I can see why this place was packed with locals and people reading or chit-chatting until a table is ready. FYI, no matter how long the wait—the pancakes, and french toast—made with baguettes instead of regular bread is well worth it!
