It’s red, white and blue time again! From BBQs to firework shows, the Big Apple always has something to offer and this year is no different. Although, I am making a quick run to Philly for the R Kelly concert, there’s so much to see and do right here in the city. Here are a few things going down that you can take a bite out of…..

Known for the spectacular Thanksgiving Day parade, Macy’s also gives you a Fourth of July Fireworks show to remember. Starting at 9 p.m., fireworks are released from six barges in the Hudson River. This year’s theme is…

I try to avoid this next topic at all costs. It stirs up mixed emotions and for some rage but today I had to discuss the recent billboard ad placed by a jilted New Mexico Man towards his ex-girlfriend!

billboard_215653

The sign was strategically placed on Alamogordo’s main street and depicts 35-year-old, Greg Fultz holding the outline of an infant, while the text reads, “This Would Have Been a Picture of My 2-Month Old Baby If the Mother Had Decided To Not KILL Our Child!

I like spooning just like the next gal but have designers taken things a bit too far with the new Booty Pillow. Goodbye body pillow and hello Booty, this new-to-the-market butt pillow has taken the derriere fascination to the next level. Shaped like a woman’s butt, this product was created for cuddling, but does the Booty Pillow represent a freakish connotation or is it the perfect answer to a lonely night?

Mediterranean Fare for Lamb Lovers
By Miss Jane

575x324_restaurant-pera_mediterranean_brasserie1

For a great Mediterranean meal in midtown where lamb is king, try Pera Mediterranean Brasserie , a cozy eatery that infuses a contemporary atmosphere with historic Turkish dishes. Specializing in grilled meat and seafood, Pera offers succulent lamb dishes, as well as a brunch that shouldn’t be missed.

With its warm, rustic décor and dim lighting, it’s perfect for either a family or large party meal (where you can reserve a full private room if you like) or a date after a movie or show near Times Square.

Start with a cocktail from their full bar, in particular their signature Blood Orange Gimlet, made with Tanqueray Rangpur gin, fresh blood orange puree and lime juice, and the Apricot Margarita, made with Don Julio Blanco tequila, apricot puree, agave nectar, and lime juice. Or, if you simply want a glass of wine with your meal, Pera offers more than 80 selections, including several Greek, Israeli, Lebanese and Turkish wines.

fathers-day-usa-9

Happy Father’s Day! June 19 is around the corner and honestly if it wasn’t for my brother being a DAD, I wouldn’t remember a thing about it. Unfortunately, dads don’t get as much love as mom—maybe it has something to do with the nine months of pregnancy, the hours of labor, or the 3 a.m. feedings. Whatever the reason, in the words of my beautiful Goddaughter Blake, let’s honor all the dedicated “Dadios” out there with a few gifts they are sure to love!

1. I am not a sports fan—maybe I will watch a couple of basketball games during the playoff but that’s about it. However, I’ve never a met a man who didn’t love sports and if this is true for yours—get him some tickets to his favorite team. That’s a gift he will definitely cherish.

man-flirting-very-obviously1

The other night, while on the phone with a “friend” we started to discuss male/female characteristics, especially when it comes to dating. While talking he states: “Women like men who have multiple women.” My first thought was “Get the hell out of here, what type of women is you talking about.” But alas, he may be on to something. I recently discovered a Facebook page titled: “U hoes really think imma be out his life please I’m here forever.” With all its immature content, incorrect grammar and awful ebonics, I read on as hundreds of women inked out the “girl you better leave my man alone” comments onto the walls of the FB page.

aa-metrosexual-putting-on-makeup

Hello Metreosexual Man, for the love of God can you not take up more time in the bathroom than me, stop using up my entire peppermint mud mask and cut back on the $100 bi-weekly facials. Who would have thought within the last decade that “pink-shirt”, fitted (not skinny) jeans- wearing, bi-weekly manis & pedis would become the norm. In 2011 men are looking so damn good, it makes a girl wonder—“Is he STRAIGHT!”

While, talking to my girlfriend, she reminded me that “it’s not so easy to tell anymore, especially with the meterosexual man– all the signs that we once thought was suspicious behavior is now normal.” Alas, Sandra you’re right! As ridiculous as it may be, with men waxing, and some even wearing concealer to hide their flawed skin—how’s a girl to know?!

A couple of weeks ago, while on a date, he proceeded to share his day with me, which included shopping for his favorite Bath & Body Works gel, a quick trip to Carol’s Daughter for his favorite cologne and ending with a mani and facial (I guess he needed an extraction really bad):

Me: “Are you serious?”

When my daughter started trying to feed herself, I knew it was a good time for her to experience eating out at a restaurant. But finding a child-friendly place that wasn’t some chain restaurant with generic food, poor service and a 2 hour wait, seemed impossible.

Luckily, we were introduced to PSbklyn–a new park slope restaurant with delicious comfort foods, spirits and entertainment for kids and adults. Not just kid-friendly but family-friendly. We decided to try their Brunch a few Saturdays ago and can’t wait to go back with our friends and their kids!

PSbklyn's brunch menu has delicious comfort foods like eggs with sweet potato hash, corn bread and a kid's menu with everything from chicken fingers to apple sauce
