Located on 61st and First Avenue at the foot of the Queensboro Bridge, the East River Café is stylish dining with a twist–it’s an Italian and Mediterranean restaurant, owned by Egyptian-born Sam Marcos. Opened for 15 years, the cooking is rich with quality ingredients and an authentic flavor.
With an assortment of fresh seafood and vegetables incorporated into appetizers like Gamberi allo Spiedo (shrimp wrapped in prosciutto, the cannellini beans and avocado or the sliced Alaskan smoked Salmon with fennel and orange leeks who would have thought both worlds would be so similar!

The menu has a host of entrees for any palette such as: Pollo Alla Vecchia Maniera, sautéed chicken breast with white wine lemon capers sauce, served with spinach and mashed potatoes; the Tonno Magico, fresh tuna in aromatic crust, grand marnier orange mango sauce, spinach and crispy sweet potatoes or the delightfully fresh Filet of Sole in a creamy Pinot Griogio wine sauce.

What’s a dining-out affair without dessert. Try one of the sweet selections from the Tortino di Formaggio (orange cheesecake with pistachio ice-cream).
East River boasts a refreshing, intimate atmosphere with friendly staff and an excellent wine list and live piano bar. The food is great with sizable portions and reasonably priced. Join friends after work or make reservations for a romantic date.
