My brother said his “I-dos” this past Sunday. As I watched the room, I took a mental picture of all the couples and singles in the room and sadly most of the single people were ladies. Damn, no wonder men attend weddings to find a chick, hence the movie Wedding Crashers. I mean that’s a lot of competition and with my sarcastic personality and need for adequate space, things aren’t looking too good.

As  time went on, with tear-filled video collages,  I sat back and sipped on the mango mojitio signature drink, while I prepared myself to witness, the crazy spectacle about to go down—the bouquet toss. I expected some arm flaying, pushing, arguing and for sure one woman would go flying across the room–all in an effort to catch this coveted prize and become the next one to walk down the aisle (yeah right).

However, I was pleasantly surprised and a bit disappointed when the new bride gave each woman her own set of flowers. What a let down, I really wanted to see some action and I believe the ladies really wanted to go nose-diving for those flowers. In essence, it is a nice gesture to help ensure each single lady gets hitched one day. As for the tossing of the garter– never happened, after all what man wants to fight over a garter when there’s football.

All-in-all the way people interact at weddings is the same even though the couples are different. There’s food, drinks, tears, laughter and love, so for  Claudine and Dean, who believe  in lasting love. Congratulations and God Bless you both!
